Be the first in the country to taste the Gold Medal and Trophy winning wines from the recent 2011 Hunter Valley Wine Show at the exclusive Masterclasses to be hosted by Hunter Valley Wine Show judges and award-winning winemakers who refer to themselves as the ‘Fussy Bastards’.
On October 14, 2011, #semsational, a brand new concept and fun experience, will have guests ‘speed dating’ their way through their favourite Hunter Valley Semillons, whilst meeting the passionate winemakers behind them. Discerning wine lovers will learn more about the serious but fun, fresh and crisp taste of Hunter Valley Semillon and how it is the perfect match with a Sydney summer’s day.
Sally Scarborough, Hunter Valley Uncorked Festival Event Organiser says, “Hunter Valley Semillon is a unique, yet world renowned wine style. These two Hunter Valley Uncorked events will launch the 2011 Semillons and immerse guests in the oldest winemaking region in Australia’s wine and people.”
“The passionate winemakers from Thomas Wines, DeIuliis Wines, McWilliams Mount Pleasant, Brokenwood, First Creek, amongst others, will be in attendance to mingle with guests and help them further explore the flavours of the Hunter Valley,” Ms. Scarborough said.
Held on Wednesday October 12 at Etch Restaurant, Sydney, 6.00pm - 8.30pm and Thursday October 13 at 3 Weeds Restaurant, Rozelle, 6.00pm - 8.30pm, the Masterclasses will offer an educational experience, as guests learn how wines are judged, whilst the myths of the wine show judging will be dispelled.
The classes cost $110pp and will include wines, a tasting menu and structured tuition with Hunter Valley winemakers and judges.
Coast Restaurant, Cockle Bay, will provide the perfect backdrop for #semsational on October 14, 6pm to 10pm. The event will launch the crisp fresh 2011 Semillons and showcase the varieties the Hunter Valley does best.
At #semsational guests will immerse themselves in the region’s wine and people, and be introduced to the Hunter Valley’s Semillon by the passionate winemakers behind them, through the #semsational wine speed dating concept. The wines will be paired with a menu of canapés prepared by the team at Coast Restaurant.
Other activities on the night include live entertainment, the Semillon Station, and our Summer Cellar Door for those wishing to place orders for their new found love.
